I've just deleted the old https://www.daveschultz.com/forum from XMB and created a new one using phpbb as the spam control and tools with xmb were very weak.

While I'm happy with the spam control on this forum with SMF, phpbb appears to have a pretty good following and support. Watch this discussion and I'll report back after I've plated with for awhile.

I'm suggesting that you stay away from XMB as the Spam control is weak. I'm changing over the forums referenced above to another.

In the below threads there are rules of customers we don't want, and why we don't want them.

We're the perfect server for this accounts - so long as they don't do a crazy number of emailing customers for promotions. There are services that better use eCommerce customer mailing lists to do your promotion marketing. BKH uses WordPress for our site.
• On-line personal photo albums
• Personal Cloud for those wanting portability and total control over their privacy
• Real Estate Agents. There are plenty of applications for real estate agents
• Forums. Forums run great on our server - even huge ones - so long as your are doing mass emailing too frequently
• Wikis. We have quite a few Wikis. Family wikis, where ancestral history is collaborated on by family members. Business Wikis for the development, trading, repair, and develop a Knowledgebase of products they sell. Hobby Interests like MoparWiki.com for Mopar history.
• Classified Ad Web Sites
• Support and Trouble tickets to report issues, assign to someone to resolve, and develop a Knowledgebase
• Polls, Surveys, Statistics, Framework, Portals, projects, invoicing, CRM, education, groupware or?

When in doubt or if we'd be a good fit - just ask.

You need a dedicated server if that's your intention as you're a resource Hog.

There are sites which frequently mass email large numbers. That beats up the resources of the server, and would affect other accounts on the server. It also gets the server blocked from a lot of email programs. If that is what you want to do on a server - you really need to find another one to destroy.

Child porn, illegal gun sales, illegal drug or paraphernalia, Con games, fraud or any of the like.

Sites doing that will have some policing authority wanting copies of your site and all other information we have on the account - within days (if not hours) of when the site first operates illegally. Again, we don't need the Hassle and the server doesn't need a reputation of needing to be watched. Immediate account termination without refund, once a complaint is verified.

Remember, the sites are frequently backed up and retained for restoration in case of a unlikely problem. That means they're also subject to being handed over in the case of a legitimate subpoena.

While were nit a convent of Nuns, we really only want good neighbors on our server.

Every site should have a privacy page. There are many free sites which will help you construct a legal one. If you're not blocking the EU in your Cpanel - you need to comply with their Socialist requirements of web sites with access in the EU.

The reason is you don't need France to sue you and we don't need the hassle of complying to a subpoena.

We don't throttle resources at BKH, because when a webmaster infrequently does need the heavy use of resources for a brief period (to maybe install a new application), we want him to get it done quickly. Video server sites eat up too much resources to be a good neighbor to others using server. Those found to be doing this will need to have their account immediately terminated.

We're not Scoutmasters, but those sites get the server in hot water with search engines, use an excessive amount or resources that hurt others on the server, and an increased liability we don't want. Any account which we are able to verify a complaint of hardcore existing - will be immediately terminated without refund.
